Triyards targets Southeast Asia with latest TDU-400 design

In a release, TRIYARDS Holdings Limited (TRIYARDS or the Group) announced that it has become one of only three Singapore yards able to design and build its own proprietary drilling jack-ups and selfelevating units (SEUs) with the introduction of the new Premium Class 400 HPHT (high pressure, high temperature) Drilling Jack-up Rig, the TDU-400.

This latest design comes on the heels of the Group’s recently launched BH 450 series – proprietary-designed 450ft (approx 130m) leg length SEUs, which it said was proof its strengthening design and engineering capabilities in the oil and gas sector.

TRIYARDS’ Chief Executive Officer, Mr Wong Bheet Huan, said: “This latest design demonstrates that our dedication to enhancing our engineering capabilities has paid off, expanding the scope of our product offerings.

“Designed to be ‘lighter weight’ without compromising operating performance, the TDU-400 is competitively priced and will make a worthy addition to our growing range of proprietary products. This will certainly propel us closer to our goal of becoming a leading shipyard in the region.”

According to Mr Wong, the TDU-400 is designed to capitalise on the most advanced drilling systems and equipment available today. It can also be quickly customised to meet the distinct needs of different clients without having to be continuously redesigned, thus avoiding the costs associated with such variation orders.

The TDU-400 can withstand up to 100-knot winds while satisfying wave criteria for global deployment. Able to provide accommodation for up to 220 personnel, the jackup boasts leg lengths of more than 535ft (approximately 163m) and can operate in water depths of up to 400ft (approximately 120m).

“We are optimistic about capturing a bigger share of the growing market for these smaller rigs, which can be efficiently deployed in Asia’s shallow to mid-depth waters. Furthermore, the unit offers premium capabilities and performance at an optimal cost, making it attractive to clients who want high-specification rigs at price levels that meet their budget needs,” added Mr Wong.

TRIYARDS has delivered six SEUs since 2007. The Group is currently busy with a solid orderbook, which totalled US$647 million as at 28 February 2013. The projects include three SEUs and the Group’s landmark offering, the Lewek Constellation, an ice-class deepwater multi-lay vessel with heavy-lift capabilities which the company said will rank it as one of the world’s most advanced subsea construction vessels in its class when delivered.
