Yongnam clinches three contracts worth S$30.4m
It inked two contracts for the MRT Downtown Line 3 and a contract for the Victoria Theatre and Victoria Concert Hall.
Contract 929 and Contract 932A are for the construction of the Kaki Bukit and Kallang Bahru stations. The stations will serve the residents of the HDB estates nearby and schools in the vicinity, and provide an alternative mode of transportation for workers in the Kaki Bukit and Kallang Bahru industrial estates. Kallang Bahru station will also serve as a Civil Defence shelter. The 21-km long DTL3 is the final stretch of the 42-km Downtown Line. Fully underground, DTL3 comprises 16 stations, including three interchange stations which will link to the Circle Line and the East West Line.
For Contracts 929 and 932A, Yongnam will support the main contractor, China State Construction Engineering Corporation Limited, by providing temporary steel strutting, sheetpile and decking works.
Work on the contracts is expected to be completed around late 2014.
For the sub-contract package for structural steelworks at the Victoria Theatre and Victoria Concert Hall, Yongnam will support the main contractor, Sato Kogyo Pte Ltd to supply, fabricate, surface-treat, deliver and erect about 1,960 tons of structural steelworks for the proposed additions and alterations to Victoria Theatre and Victoria Concert Hall. The main challenge for this project is that a more meticulous approach in execution is required in order to preserve the existing building structures adjacent to the new works.
Work on the project is expected to be completed around December 2012.
The above contracts are expected to have a favourable impact on the Group’s financial performance for the year ending December 31, 2011.
