Transport works on track.
According to a release, Yongnam Engineering has secured two new specialist civil engineering subcontracts worth HK$166 million (S$27 million) for works on the Hong Kong Express Link CentralWan Chai Bypass Tunnel and the Shatin to Central Link of the Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway.
In the first subcontract, Yongnam will support the main contractor, Chun Wo-CRGLMBEC Joint Venture, on the Central-Wan Chai Bypass Tunnel project, which is a 4 km trunk road running between Central and Causeway Bay in Hong Kong.
The scope of works will include approximately 2,000 tons of steel for the construction of temporary steel bridges between the Tunnel’s North Point Section and Island Eastern Corridor Link, expected to be completed in April 2014.
This is the Group’s second contract win, having been previously awarded a subcontract for earthwork lateral support works by Chun Wo-CRGL-MBEC Joint Venture in July 2012.
In the second subcontract, Yongnam will undertake the design, supply, installation and subsequent dismantling of approximately 10,000 tons of struts at two MTR stations for the SCL, namely Sung Wong Toi and To Kwa Wan, including the tunnels and entrances.
The SCL will connect several existing railway lines to form two strategic railway corridors – the “East West Corridor” and the “North South Corridor” – serving the New Territories, Kowloon and Hong Kong Island.
