Gov't forms task force to boost talent in built environment sector
The task force will focus on four areas to enhance the sector's appeal.
The government has formed a task force to strengthen the architectural and engineering consultancy fields and attract more talent to the built environment (BE) sector.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office Indranee Rajah and Surbana Jurong Group Chairman Chaly Mah will co-lead the task force.
The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) stated that the task force will focus on four areas: enhancing the BE sector's branding and talent inflow, transforming the workforce and workplaces, evolving BE consultancy business models, and promoting sustainable industry practices.
To enhance Singaporeans' appreciation of the BE sector, the government announced updates to the Standard Consultancy Agreement (SCA) for public sector projects, effective for tenders from 1 November 2024.
Additionally, the government refreshed the BE Industry Digital Plan (BE IDP) to align with the three key Transformation Areas in the BE Industry Transformation Map (ITM): Integrated Planning and Design, Advanced Manufacturing and Assembly, and Sustainable Urban Systems.
