Gov’t rolls out digital plan to help construction, maintenance industries
More than 500 businesses and 30,000 employees can expect benefits from this programme.
The government announced the launch of its Process Construction & Maintenance (PCM) Industry Digital Plan (IDP) to help more than 500 businesses and 30,000 employees build their digital capabilities.
This joint programme by Enterprise Singapore and the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), in partnership with the Association of Process Industry, will help guide PCM enterprises in assessing their digital readiness and identify suitable digital solutions to accelerate their growth.
The PCM industry consists primarily of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which account for 98% of the 500 companies in this space.
“To achieve sustainable development in the PCM sector, where niche skills and expertise are required in the day-to-day construction and maintenance of the production units, it is important for the industry to embrace digital tools and skills to increase labour productivity and develop improvement,” IMDA director for SMEs, Go Digital, Catherine Chong, said in a press statement.
The IDP is made up of two roadmaps: the Digital Roadmap, which sets out what solutions SMEs can adopt, and the Digital Training Roadmap for upskilling employees.
