Seven stop-work orders have been issued since mid-December.
The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) have discovered 486 safety breaches since mid-December 2020.
In a speech on 3 March, Senior Minister Zaqy Mohamad said the 486 contraventions have been uncovered from the 510 inspections conducted since mid-December 2020. This has led to the issuance of seven stop-work orders.
“No company should be complacent,” Zaqy said.
He also expressed concern for the explosion of a building in Tuas on 26 February, which killed three workers and injured five.
In response, MOM inspectors have inspected almost 500 companies to assess combustible dust hazards and minise risk.
