
Raffles Infrastructure inks $1.19b deal to build Chinese tourist railways
The railways will have a total length of 70km and will be built in four phases.
Raffles Chengdu Investment and Development, a subsidiary of Raffles Infrastructure Holdings, entered a framework agreement on 19 October 2018 that will allow it to build tourist railways of about 70km with a contract value of $1.19b or RMB6b.
The agreement was signed with the government of Dengfeng City, which will provide assistance and support to the project, and Chengdu Tianfu Railtech Valley Technology.
According to an announcement, the project will be complete in four phases with various completion schedules.
For Phase 1, the 15km tourist railway between Songshan’s Tourist Centre and Shaolin Temple Tourist Area will be completed from 2018 to 2020. The contract value is at RMB1.3b.
For Phase 2, the railway between Songshan’s Tourist Centre to Songshan Study Courtyard and Zhongyue Temple will be completed in 2020 to 2022. The project’s contract value is at RMB1.3b.
The 20km tourist railway connecting Zhongyue Temple to Luya Waterfall and Safari Zoological Park will be completed during Phase 3 from 2022 to 2024. It has a contract value of RMB 1.7b.
Finally, the 20km railway connecting Safari Zoological Park and Chaoyanggou Xiqu Town will be completed in 2024 to 2026 for Phase 4. It has an estimated value of RMB1.7b.
