Singapore to develop more sustainable built environments
Developing buildings with better energy efficiency is a necessity while meeting the demand of the growing population for more urban spaces.
According to the Building and Construction Authority, building with better energy efficiency and those retrofitted will minimise the impact on the environment.
The BCA along with Build Eco Xpo Asia will be hosting the 3rd Singapore Green Building Week with the theme, "Build Green. Act Now". The third IGBC is a strong call-to-action for stakeholders of the building industry to heed the pressing global need to develop more sustainable built environments.
Despite having a good business case and the availability of various incentives, there is still much room for improvement and progress.
Michelle Lim, Managing Director of Reed Exhibitions Singapore, the organiser for BEX Asia 2011, said “This strategic collaboration between IGBC and BEX Asia is essential to ensure that industry players are kept up to date with the latest global green build trends and their applications in our region. BEX Asia encompasses the strength of its regional base, bringing together industry professionals and key decision makers, and providing networking and business opportunities to cater to the needs of the attendees and delegates. Together, IGBC and BEX Asia will drive this two-prong approach of education and business opportunities to further enhance the Build Green growth in South East Asia.”
