ST Engineering’s electronics arm snaps up contracts worth $650m in 2Q
Including about $210m in rail electronics and transportation.
The electronics subsidiary of ST Engineering has beefed up its order book as it secures about $650m worth of contracts in the second quarter of 2016 from deals for Rail Electronics & Intelligent Transportation, Satellite & Broadband Communications, as well as Advanced Electronics & Information Communications Technologies (ICT) solutions.
According to a press release by ST Engineering, rail electronics contracts amounted to $210m and were awarded to both local and overseas customers.
“International orders include a $152m contract secured for Communications, Automatic Fare Collection and Platform Screen Door Systems and a metro project for an Integrated Supervisory Control System,” the press release said.
Meanwhile, for satellite & broadband communications, the Electronics sector received contracts amounting to $80m from government, telecom and enterprise users worldwide for the supply of broadband network, satellite network equipment and earth stations, the press release noted.
“VT iDirect, Inc., a world leader in satellite-based IP communications technology, established an Engineering and Innovation Centre in Killarney, Ireland to expand the Group’s global engineering innovation footprint from its existing development centres in Ottawa, Canada, Singapore, Cranfield, UK as well as Herndon, USA,” it added.
