ST Engineering launches ‘BrightCity’ smart water solution
It offers a cost-effective and end-to-end solution for smart water meter monitoring and control.
ST Engineering's Urban Solutions business has launched BrightCity, a suite of integrated smart water advanced meter infrastructure (AMI) solutions, to address challenges faced by cities and utility providers globally.
BrightCity provides a cost-effective and end-to-end solution for smart water meter monitoring and control, applicable to both large-scale brownfield and greenfield deployments.
"By digitalising conventional water meters infrastructure at scale, BrightCity provides real-time insights, empowering utility providers and end users to manage water consumption effectively and enhance sustainability,” said Gareth Tang, head, of Smart Utilities & Infrastructure, Urban Solutions at ST Engineering.
Key features of BrightCity includes the Meter Interface Unit, which seamlessly integrates with existing meters, enabling wireless communication connectivity for digitalized data collection and transmission to a central Meter Data Management System.
The MDMS consolidates real-time data from meters, facilitating automated, end-to-end monitoring and control of metering infrastructures across expansive urban areas. With its encrypted data management system, it ensures secure data collection, trend analysis, and real-time alerts, enabling predictive water leakage detection and enhanced water management.
Additionally, BrightCity operates on open communications networks like NBIoT/CatM and LoRa, offering flexibility across multiple deployments by eliminating network and equipment lock-in.
The customer portal and mobile application also provide end-users with real-time water consumption readings and comparison benchmarks, aiding in better water usage management and detection of unusual consumption patterns.
