URA waives fees for applications to repair old buildings

Applications process also simplified.

According to Minister Khaw Boon Wan's blog, to make it easier for owners to keep conserved buildings in good condition, URA will waive the processing fees for applications to carry out localised repair and maintenance works which do not alter the structure or appearance of the conserved building. This takes effect from 1 November 2013.

These applications are also simplified so that an owner does not have to engage a Qualified Person, such as an architect or engineer, for straightforward repair and maintenance works. Instead, the owner or his contractor can apply directly to URA for approval. This will reduce costs and time for all parties.

These are useful measures to help owners take care of their conserved buildings, and preserve the story of Singapore.
