Yongnam JV secures $320.4m contract to build Jurong Region Line
The firm will construct Toh Guan, Jurong Town Hall and Pandan Reservoir stations.
Yongnam Holdings’s 40%-owned joint venture (JV) with Daewoo Engineering & Construction (Daewoo E&C) has clinched a $320.4m design and build contract for Jurong Region Line from the Land Transport Authority (LTA), an SGX filing revealed.
The J109 contract works comprises the design and construction of Toh Guan Station, Jurong Town Hall Station, Pandan Reservoir Station and associated entrances, as well as a 3,600 m elevated viaduct. This contract is expected to commence later this year.
The 24km-long Jurong Region Line is Singapore’s seventh MRT line, and is the first fully elevated line without any underground stations. The project is said to support the development of the Jurong area, which is set to be the largest commercial hub outside the CBD, the press release added.
Yongnam CEO Seow Soon Yong said that it’s their first design and construction contract for a MRT line through the JV. This contract award is expected to have a positive impact on the group’s financial performance for the year ending 31 December.
