Singapore Technologies Engineering named Lee Shiang Long as president designate
He will take over from Ravinder Singh.
Dr. Lee, 50, will start as president of Singapore Technologies Kinetics (ST Kinetics) on April 2017. He was appointed president of the Defence Business Group, ST Kinetics on June 1, 2016, overseeing the company’s key pillar of growth, in the defence business. He is concurrently appointed as the deputy chief technology officer for ST Engineering since March 1, 2016.
Before joining ST Kinetics, Dr. Lee started working for A*STAR in July 2013. He was appointed executive director of the Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R) in January 2014.
He started his career in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). He served as head of Joint Communications and Information Systems Department and SAF’s chief information officer. His previous appointments in the SAF include chief signal officer and army chief information officer, also as deputy assistant chief of General Staff (Plans), Singapore Army. He was promoted to brigadier general in 2009.
Dr. Lee got a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Nanyang Technological University in 2000, and a Master in Business Administration from Cambridge University in 2001, a Master of Science in IT from National University of Singapore in 1994, and a Master in Mechanical Engineering from Nanyang Technological University in 1992.
