Around 3 in 5 adults oppose online gambling: report

It is the fourth market most opposed to online gambling.

Around 56% of Singaporean adults think online gambling should not be allowed, making it the fourth most-opposed market to online gambling, according to a report by YouGov.

The survey results in Singapore were higher than the global average of 46%. The Lion City trailed behind Spain and India which were both at 57%, and China at 56%.

Amongst those surveyed, the older generations of Singapore were more opposed to online gambling with 68% of Baby Boomers or those born between 1946 to 1964 thinking it should not be allowed, followed by Gen Xers at 62%.

Only 44% of Millennials and 45% of Gen Zs do not agree with online gambling.

Overall, 25% find the current rules and regulations on online gambling to be too strict, whilst 40% said they were not too strict, and 36% were undecided.

Based on age brackets, 28% of Gen Zs and Gen Xers most likely claimed that the rules were strict, and 44% of Millennials claimed the opposite. Around 43% of Baby Boomers were unsure.
