Chart of the day: How did Singaporeans feel about the National Day Rally speech?
About 7 in 10 found it relevant.
This chart from YouGov reveals how Singaporeans felt about Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s National Day Rally speech in five categories.
Almost seven in 10 found it relevant (67%) whilst over three in five found it insightful (66%) and interesting (65%). More than half found it convincing (55%) whilst just over two in five said it was enjoyable (47%).
The chart also shows how Singaporeans of different age groups felt about the speech. Gen Z Singaporeans were more likely than other generations to express the most positive responses across four of the five characteristics (the extent to which they found it relevant, convincing, interesting, and enjoyable). Baby Boomers and Gen Z were just as likely to say it was insightful (69%).
Notably, the gender divide is less apparent compared to an earlier iteration of this study run by YouGov in 2015, which found older residents above the age of 55 most likely to express the most positive responses.
