SG is leading Asian city in this year’s top 100 destinations index
Euromonitor said Singapore is the first place globally in economic performance.
Out of all the countries in the region, Singapore is the leading Asian city for the 2022 top 100 destinations index, marketing insights firm, Euromonitor International, said.
Following Singapore is Tokyo which took the 20th place. Tourism Policy and Attractiveness, and Health and Safety are the pillars with the greatest improvements in ranking for this region in 2022.
The Lion City also ranked first place globally economic and business performance for the last four years.
Singapore placed third for tourism policy and attractiveness. It is the only non-European city in the rankings.
Singapore was fifth for health and safety. It is known as a corruption-free destination competing in this field mainly with the Nordic cities.
Singapore reopened its borders and was able to host numerous high-profile international events, helping it progress into becoming the leading financial hub in Asia.
The city was particularly popular for business travel, particularly MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions).
The Singapore Tourism Board previously launched INSPIRE Global 2.0, which offered incentives for qualified MICE groups.
The city also added new attractions like the SkyHelix Sentosa, and continued to host popular events such as the Formula One motor race, which helped increase its profile.
