5 reasons that can drive consumers to enter the metaverse
Metaverse is expected to contribute US$0.8t - US$1.4t to Asia's GDP in 2035.
Two in five consumers interested in the metaverse will likely try the virtual world for the first time once the technology needed for it becomes more affordable, YouGov has found.
According to YouGov, the most inclined to try the metaverse once the technology becomes more affordable are millennials (44%) and men (45%).
Apart from more affordable technology, consumers also said they want to try metaverse after seeing and reading it a lot on the media (39%) and from friends (24%).
The most influenced by the media were Gen Zs (45%) and men (44%).
Others (20%) wanted to try the metaverse because they want to buy something in the real world that they would like to bring into the virtual world.
Some will try the alternate reality for their work or job (16%).
Meanwhile, interested consumers will limit their participation in the metaverse due to privacy and safety concerns (61%).
Almost half of them (48%) also cited the lack of proper regulation or laws overseeing activities in the metaverse and not having the right device to access it as a deterrent to trying the alternative reality.
