Number of searches on jobs linked to AI jumped by 148.6%
The most significant growth in job postings has been for research fellows.
The count of searches for AI jobs surged by 148.6% between March 2018 and March 2023, job portal, Indeed, said.
Amongst the most significant growth in job postings over the last five years has been for research fellows, with an increase of 58.81%. This is followed by machine learning engineers (18.74%), data scientists (13.06%), and Software Engineers (5.11%).
“The job market has responded to the boom in interest in AI-related career prospects, as indicated by a 95% increase in job postings on Indeed's site during the same time period,” read the statement.

This growth in AI-linked careers comes as the Singapore government declared plans to prioritise employment pass (EP) applications for a number of roles that it recently added to its Shortage Occupation List (SOL) released in March this year, Indeed said. Some of the jobs included list include AI scientists, data scientists and software engineers.
Indeed said AI roles are usually well paid above the average monthly salary of $5,070 in Singapore. For example, the average monthly salary for senior data scientists is $10,395, followed by software architects at $10,071, data engineers at $8,171, data scientists at $8,108, and machine learning engineers at $7,776.
