Singapore-based social commerce startup WEBUY has secured “multi-million” US dollars in its first round of funding. Investors in the round included Global Founders Capital (GFC), the VC arm of German e-commerce investor Rocket Internet, and a local family fund.

The company said that the money will be used to strengthen WEBUY’s social commerce technology platforms, and to better connect suppliers and consumers to boost its position in Singapore’s social e-commerce space.

The startup, which currently has operations in Singapore and Malaysia, will use a portion of the capital to launch in other markets in Southeast Asia.
