Grab, Alipay roll out ride payment solution for Chinese tourists in Singapore

Rides in Thailand are also part of the deal.

Ride booking app Grab has tied up with third-party payment platform Alipay to provide Chinese tourists an easier way to pay for rides in Singapore and Thailand.

Under the partnership, all Chinese travellers to Singapore and Thailand can pay for their fares in RMB. Prior to this tie-up, Chinese travellers would have to pay for their rides either by connecting their dual-currency credit cards or making a cash payment.

Grab and Alipay plan to make the payment option available to other Southeast Asian markets as well, the companies said in a statement.
