Organisations compelled to have at least one Data Protection Officer

To oversee compliance with the PDPA.

The Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) has required organisations to designate at least one Data Protection Officer to oversee the organisations' compliance with the PDPA.

The mandate is just one of many advisory guidelines PDPC has formulated following public feedback. The guidelines are meant to aid understanding of the Personal Data Protection Act or PDPA, which will fully come into effect next year by 2 Jul 2014.

One set of advisory guidelines focuses on the key concepts, while the other will focus on how the PDPA applies to selected topics and domains.

The full guidelines can be read here.
