SG, Vietnam boost cooperation in new and emerging sectors
Amongst sectors where the two countries will collaborate include energy connectivity.
Singapore and Vietnam have expressed plans to collaborate on new and emerging areas such as energy connectivity, sustainability and digital innovation.
Apart from these areas, the two countries have also made progress in education, finance, information technology and telecommunications, infrastructure, investment, tourism, trade and services, and transport.
“Singapore and Vietnam share strong and substantive trade and investment ties. With Vietnam’s transition to a green and digital economy, Singapore can be a partner to Vietnam in its next bound of growth. Singapore companies can build on the strong foundation and partnerships with Vietnam to capture opportunities in these new areas,” Second Minister for Trade and Industry, Tan See Leng, said in the 17th Singapore-Vietnam Connectivity Ministerial Meeting (CMM) held in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Tan co-chaired this year’s CMM and led discussions about further collaboration with Vietnam, together with his counterpart, Vietnam Minister of Planning and Investment H.E. Nguyen Chi Dzung.
Meanwhile, the ministers also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), and Vietnam’s National Innovation Center (NIC) on the sidelines of the CMM.
