It’s amongst the four Asia Pacific cities which entered the top 10.
Singapore was named amongst the top smart cities in the world, ranking eighth in the Economist Impact’s Digital Cities Index 2022.
The annual index scores cities around the globe in four categories namely connectivity, services, culture and sustainability; these four were used to “assess the extent and impact of digitisation” in the cities in the index.
For the connectivity category, Singapore received a “very high” score of 83.1, ranking second globally. The Lion City also ranked high in the services and culture categories, landing at 5th place with a 72.7 score, and 12th place with a 63.7 score, respectively.
On sustainability, Singapore ranked below the top 20 at 22nd with a score of 60.8.
“Singapore’s strategy for developing digital connectivity is built on the premise that AI, 5G and cyber security will drive the country’s growth and innovation post-COVID,” the Economist Impact said.
