Singapore tops in APAC Data Centre Market Ranking
Globally, the country placed second.
Rankings released by Cushman & Wakefield placed Singapore at the top of its APAC Data Centre Marketing Ranking.
Criteria taken into account include market size, fiber connectivity and cloud availability. The Lion City’s pro-business policies also contributed to this position for the APAC region and a 2nd place finish globally.
“Singapore is one of the tightest data centre markets globally with vacancy rates below 2%. Crippled supply due to the ongoing moratorium coupled with strong demand has driven up data centre prices since 2020. Current pricing is around $200-$400 kilowatt-per-hour/month for the few small availabilities,” said Brenda Ong, Executive Director, Logistics & Industrial at Cushman & Wakefield.
Factors that work against Singapore’s ranking, however, include an expected increase in data centre prices due to strong investor demand and limited market supply.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong and Sydney followed suit at the second and third spots, respectively, with the latter rejoining the top 10 after missing out last year.
