Singtel and Hitachi ink MOU to develop data centres and GPU cloud in Japan
The partners also open the possibility of a wider Asia-Pacific expansion.
Singtel and Hitachi have signed a memorandum of agreement (MOU) to collaborate on next-generation data centres and GPU Cloud in Japan and possibly the wider Asia Pacific region, under Singtel's Digital InfraCo unit.
Under the MOU, Singtel’s Nxera will combine its data center design and operation expertise with Hitachi’s capabilities in data center equipment, energy solutions, and IT systems management for stable operations within data centre environments.
Nxera is developing a platform of sustainable, hyper-connected AI-ready data centres in the region with a total capacity of over 200MW, in addition to the existing 62MW in Singapore.
In addition, Hitachi will use Singtel’s GPUaaS to develop enterprise applications to verify complementary Singtel-based benefits that can enhance Hitachi’s high-performance machine learning, generative AI, and other digital technologies and solutions.
Based on Hitachi’s internal GPUaaS verification, the partners may co-create enterprise apps by combining Hitachi’s generative AI technologies and platform with Singtel’s GPU cloud and Paragon platform.
In June, the partners announced an agreement to trial and integrate Singtel’s Paragon with Hitachi’s AI applications for Hitachi’s manufacturing operations and enterprise customers to address the complexities faced by customers when deploying AI capabilities.
