ST Telemedia GDC to open two data centres in Tokyo
Two data centres will be built in Tokyo in conjunction with Goodman.
ST Telemedia Global Data Centers announced that it will be expanding into the Japanese data centre market.
Two data centres in Tokyo—located at Goodman Business Park, Inzai City, in the Greater Tokyo Area—are planned to be developed and leased from Goodman.
These will be composed of 60,000 square meters of gross floor area. Development potential of 60 megawatts of IT power across two buildings will be available.
ST Telemedia Global Data Centers President and CEO Bruno Lopez spoke about how this partnership is a reaction to the establishment of 5G services and digital advancements.
“This investment marks our first foray into the Japan data centre market, and with the establishment of 5G services and digital advancements being a high priority, we are delighted to be working with Goodman to support the country’s increasing demand for quality data centre services. Goodman has a stellar track record as one of the world’s biggest owners, developers and managers of industrial property, and along with our own expertise in operating state-of-the-art, carrier-neutral data centres, we are well-positioned to serve the growing needs in this market.”
Goodman Japan, meanwhile, will develop the shell and core of the data centres. These will also be leased on a long-term basis to STT GDC, which will be in charge of fit-out and operation of the data centres.
The first building is expected to be ready for service by the second quarter of 2024.
