StarHub’s Google Cloud partnership to create secure, energy-efficient cloud network

The telco will pilot Google Distributed Cloud Edge and Nokia 5G Standalone Core.

Telecommunications firm, StarHub, partnered with Google Cloud to work on providing a secure and energy-efficient cloud-native network for enterprises.

StarHub’s Cloud Infinity transformation initiative seeks to enhance performance of services whilst cutting operational costs.

It will pilot Google Distributed Cloud Edge (GDC Edge) and Nokia 5G Standalone Core to create software-based 5G cloud core network.

“GDC Edge builds on Google Cloud's existing telecommunications solutions, and can empower companies like StarHub to run core network functions at the edge in the carrier's network,” read the statement.

StarHub will also look into leveraging Google Cloud’s capabilities in data management, AI, and machine learning across its network operations.
