The No. 1 most overused buzzword in LinkedIn Profiles globally, as well as for professionals based in Singapore is “creative.” The table on the side shows the entire 2012 list of the top 10 terms that are most prevalent in the profiles of Singapore-based professionals.
“Crafting a LinkedIn Profile that is individual and unique to your skills allows you to differentiate yourself from the multitude of professionals out there,” said Chan Ngee Key, Career Coach & Strategist at YourOwn360. “Many professionals claim to be ‘creative’,but elaborating on experiences and accomplishments that are concrete examples of your creativity is infinitely more convincing, and will help you stand out from the crowd.”
This is the third year that LinkedIn has issued its buzzwords ranking, and the second year that it has conducted the study in Singapore. “Track record” was the top overused buzzword for professionals in Singapore in the 2011 rankings. In LinkedIn’s 2010 study, buzzwords like “extensive experience,” “dynamic”, “motivated”, and “innovative” were among the most overused buzzwords in various countries. When LinkedIn released its first buzzwords ranking in 2010, the site had over 85 million professionals. LinkedIn now has more than 187 million professionals and is growing at a rate of approximately two new members per second.
