TPG Singapore acquires IMDA approval for 5G NSA market trial
Support from the regulatory body allows for TPG to provide 5G at lower prices.
TPG announced via press release that the company has received Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA)’s approval for an upcoming 5G network.
Richard Tan, CEO of TPG Singapore, shared the opportunities that this approval will bring. “We are excited to have been given the opportunity to showcase our network’s enhanced capabilities, which will also include the injection of 5G mmWave high-speed spectrum into use. Our customers will be thrilled to access high-speed data on the TPG network at an affordable cost.”
TPG’s current focus on affordability, Tan added, would also extend to when the network expands its commercial services.
“Our network is the newest in the market and, as such, is readily upgradable. We are continually looking to expand our capabilities to meet the growing demand for advanced mobile connectivity in the consumer sector. The new 5G services are designed to stimulate active use of our network and, when we introduce commercial services later, we intend to greatly expand the benefits and value.”
5G benefits will be felt by TPG customers when using 5G NSA compatible hardware. These include Huawei Mate 40 and Vivo models which include: Y72, X60 Pro, Y76 5G and V23 5G. Areas that would be among the first to be upgraded include Changi Airport Jewel, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, PLQ Mall, Vivo City and Great World City.
