
IBM Singapore appoints Janet Ang as managing director
Effective immediately, Ms. Ang will be succeeding Teresa Lim who will be taking a leave of absence.
In a release, Cordelia Chung, Regional General Manager, IBM ASEAN said, “Janet’s unique mix of foresight, passion and dedication to client success makes her the right person to lead IBM Singapore in its next growth chapter, building on the significant investments in Singapore by the IBM Corporation and the legacy of strong ecosystem partnerships that Teresa leaves behind.”
Ms. Chung added, “I want to thank Teresa for her leadership and lasting contributions. In the last four and a half years, Teresa has worked tirelessly to help IBM Singapore build new business, bring innovative solutions to our clients and make Singapore an oft-cited Smarter City reference for IBM around the world.”
Janet Ang returns to Singapore with invaluable experience and perspectives gained from her assignments in China over the last seven years. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Ang served as Vice President, Strategic Services, IBM Greater China. Before that she was Vice President, Integrated Technology Services, IBM Greater China.
She also served as Vice President for Personal Systems Group in IBM Greater China and Vice President for Worldwide Desktop Business Unit in Lenovo. Ms. Ang has over 20 years of executive experience. She first joined IBM Singapore in 1982 as a Systems Engineer.
Ms. Ang serves on the board of external organisations including the Singapore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SingCham) in China for which she is Vice Chair and as a Trustee on the Board of the International School of Beijing (ISB). She is also a senior member of the Singapore Computer Society and member of Business China (Singapore).
Ms. Ang said, “I am thrilled to be returning to IBM Singapore at such an exciting time. Singapore’s economy has emerged from the global financial crisis stronger than ever and the economic strategy is focused on deepening our nation’s capabilities in research and development, innovation and sustainable urban solutions.”
