Around 4 in 5 SG shoppers are willing to pay more for product quality, authenticity
Quality, product and shipping costs, customer reviews and authenticity are the top purchase considerations.
About 70% of Singaporean online shoppers consider cost as a key factor in their online purchases but they are placing importance on product quality and authenticity as 80% are willing to purchase items at a higher price.
In a report, Amazon Singapore and YouGov found that 58% of online shoppers cited product quality as a more important consideration compared to two years ago, followed by product cost at 57% and shipping cost at 47%.
Customer reviews (44%) and authenticity (39%) are also amongst the top factors important for consumers in their online shopping.

“The findings suggest that consumers increasingly want assurances that their purchases are as advertised within the product information and seek to find the best balance among product quality, price, and authenticity, beyond simply purchasing items at the lowest cost,” the statement read.
Health & Personal Care and PC & Electronics were the top categories where the consumers were willing to pay more for quality and authenticity.
Amazon said this trend is observed more amongst consumers aged between 25 and 34 years old at 63%, with only 49% from the 35 to 44 years age group agreeing to the trend.
The survey involved 1,058 local consumers.
