1,500 new HDB flats in Bukit Merah 'attractive': PropNex
The realty company believes the future public housing site will be in demand.
The Housing and Development Board (HDB) announced its plans to launch up to 23,000 new build-to-order (BTO) flats over the next two years, as it ramps up supply to meet housing demand from Singaporeans.
According to data, Telok Blangah Beacon in Bukit Merah saw overwhelming demand in May 2021, with 604 and 3,474 applicants vying for 105 units 3-room flats and 70 units of 4-room flats, respectively.
Head of research Wong Siew Ying commented, "We believe the future public housing on the site will be highly sought after by Singaporeans given its attractive location within a private residential enclave in the city fringe and near the Redhill MRT station. There are also ample amenities and schools near the site, including the Alexandra Park Connector, Delta Sports Centre and Swimming Complex, Crescent Girl's School, Alexandra Primary School, and Gan Eng Seng School."
Given its attractive location, PropNex said it is not surprising if the future BTO project will be subjected to the new prime location public housing model that imposes stricter buying and selling conditions on HDB flat owners.
