930,000 HDB households to receive next round of U-Save vouchers in July
One and two-room flats will receive utilities rebates of $100.
An estimated 930,000 Singaporean Housing and Development Board (HDB) households will receive the next instalment of the GST voucher Utilities-Save (U-Save) in July 2019, an announcement by the Ministry of Finance (MOF) revealed.
U-Save is one of three components under the permanent GST voucher scheme. The U-Save rebates are disbursed every three months to help HDB households offset a portion of their utilities bills and lower their overall household expenses.
In July, eligible Singaporean households will each receive a voucher of up to $100, depending on their HDB flat type. One and two-room flats will receive $100, whilst three-room flats will receive a voucher for $90. Executive and multi-generation flat types will receive $60.
“Annually, the GST voucher U-Save has enabled households in one and two room HDB flats to receive support which is equivalent to about three to four months of their utilities bills on average,” MOF said. “Those living in three and four-room HDB flats receive support equivalent to about one to two months of their utilities bills.”
Under the open electricity market (OEM) eligible households will continue to receive U-Save rebates regardless of their electricity provider.
In 2019, eligible Singaporean households are expected to benefit from the rebates amounting to $300m.
