
Asia-Pac real estate firms raised almost US$11.5b in 1Q

According to SNL Financial data, capital raised through common equity for companies in SNL's Asia-Pacific real estate coverage universe amounted to just less than $2.1 billion for the first quarter. Senior debt offerings accounted for an additional $8.9 billion, and $500 million was raised through a lone subordinated debt offering.
During the first quarter of 2013, companies in SNL's Asia-Pacific real estate coverage universe raised $7.2 billion through common equity offerings, $8.7 billion through senior debt offerings and $700 million through one subordinated debt offering.
On a country basis, companies based in Hong Kong raised the most capital during the first quarter, pulling in a little more than $4.5 billion.
China was next on the list, with a little more than $3.9 billion in capital raised. At the other end of the spectrum, companies in Australia raised just more than $400 million in capital in the first quarter.
