CDL acquires Yardhouse site in Central London for $148.6m
Yardhouse will mark CDL’s first private rented sector project in Central London.
City Developments Limited (CDL) has acquired the Yardhouse site on Wood Lane, White City, for $148.6m, marking its first private rented sector project in Central London.
In a bourse filing, CDL said it plans to develop the 250-year leasehold site to a 17-storey apartment block with 209 co-living studio units and a total gross floor area of 102,600 square feet (sq ft).
CDL will forward-fund this PRS project likely to be completed in 2026.
CDL said it has appointed a third-party developer to develop the scheme for a fixed price and will fund the land purchase and construction in staged payments as construction progresses.
Additionally, CDL will construct a new 7-storey block adjacent to the Yardhouse site for the landowner, Women's Pioneer Housing (WPH), a non-profit organisation giving single women access to safe, secure and affordable homes and services.
The block will comprise 60 housing units and commercial office space on the ground floor, where the latter will serve as WPH’s operations post-practical completion. This initiative forms part of the $148.6m forward-funding commitment.
The Yardhouse site is opposite the 23-acre campus of Imperial College and within walking distance of Westfield London, the UK’s largest shopping centre.
The site is also a five-minute walk away from White City Underground Station and an eight-minute walk to Wood Lane Underground Station.
