Chart of the Day: Here's how the mass-market segment dominated 3Q home sales
It accounted for 48.3% of units sold in primary market.
According to Colliers International, the newly implemented TDSR framework has further trimmed down homebuyer’s affordability which was already shaved by earlier rounds of cooling measures.
This drove many of them to look to the more affordably-priced suburban homes in the Outside Central Region (OCR). As a result, the mass-market segment dominated primary market activity for the 13th consecutive quarter since 3Q 2010, accounting for 60.6% of all units launched and 48.3% of all units sold in 3Q 2013.
Major mass-market projects launched in the OCR in the three months between July and September 2013 included the 463-unit Vue 8 Residence, the 337-unit The Tembusu, the 726-unit The Glades and the 420-unit The Skywoods.
The debut of these projects collectively accounted for 54.5% and 39.3% of all units launched and sold in the OCR in 3Q 2013, respectively.
