Chart of the Day: See how HDB flats' resale volume recovered from 2015
It is expected to rise further with about 76,000 flats completed from 2014 to 2017.
This chart from SRX Analyzer and OrangeTee & Tie Consultancy showed how HDB flats’ resale volume recovered progressively from 2015 to 2018.
“The volume of resales has been rising since 2015 in tandem with the increased supply of completed homes, suggesting that demand could be supply-led in recent years,” OrangeTee & Tie commented.
According to SRX Property, HDB resale volume rose surged 28.0% MoM and 42.7% YoY, respectively to 2,548 units in July.
The firm thinks that the strong resale volume was not unexpected as there were more HDB flats being completed and being put up for resale after they reached the five-year MOP (minimum occupation period).
“Resale volume is expected to rise in the coming years as a total of about 76,000 flats were completed from 2014 to 2017 and will reach MOP from 2019 to 2021,” the firm added.
