Chart of the Day: See this year’s dismal performance in REIT as developer sales crash 52%

Outlook remains to be negative.

September developer sales are up month on month, but sell-through rates remain poor.

According to a report by Barclays, September developer take-up jumped 48% on a monthly basis but crashed 52% on an annual basis, as demand rose after the Hungry Ghost Month.

Barclays sees a similar trend for October; with a sequentially higher sales figure on a major launch - Marina One Residences but weak sell-through rates, reflecting risk of rising unsold inventory in the system.

Year-to-Sep sales were down to 6,119 units from last year’s 12.657 units.
