Daily Briefing: DBS and UOB's pay gap narrows down to $12,875; Grab enables passenger's photo sending

And Kingsley Mansion in Balestier Road is up for collective sale at $45.5m.

From eFinancial Careers:

The long-standing compensation gap between UOB and DBS closed down to $12,875 in H2, down from $20,590 a year ago, amidst UOB's pay increase for its staff after better earnings.

UOB’s staff costs per head rose 11% YoY to $43,143 for H1.

UOB has also been increasing its spending on its expensive front-office employees: those working in group wholesale banking (which serves corporate and institutional clients) and in global markets (which provides foreign exchange, interest rate, commodities, equities, and other treasury products). Expenditure increases of 13% and 9%, respectively, in these two divisions were partly attributed to staff-related costs.

By contrast, DBS spent 5% less as average earnings at the bank fell to $61,019.

Grab launched a new chat feature which will allow passengers to send photos to help drivers find passengers if the green location pin is not sufficient.

According to Grab, one-third of all bookings already use the chat feature and it has helped reduced “no show” cancellations by 40 per cent.

Currently, the service only allows passengers to share photos with drivers, but Grab is working on allowing the revers by the end of the year.
