Daily Briefing: Here's how much you really get paid at Google; Discounted Rivière unit sold to Frasers Property director

And here's how Singapore is helping firms integrate persons with disability into the workforce.

From eFinancialCareers:

If you’re a developer at a bank, you’ll probably be applying for software engineering jobs at Google as mid-level engineers at the tech firm enjoy average annual base salaries of $198,000. This compares well with the banking sector as a VP-level front-end software developer at a bank in Singapore earns about $134,000, according to our 2019 banking tech pay table, which was compiled from recruiter surveys.

As we reported last month, Google is particularly keen on hiring cloud engineers from banks for its Google Cloud unit in Singapore. The salary gap isn’t as big in this specialist field – banks pay their cloud-focused VPs $180,000 compared with Google’s $198,000.

But Google is less competitive when it comes to paying its Singapore-based business development managers/analysts. They take home salaries of about $133,000 a year, which is $17,000 less than a VP in a similar function at a bank would earn.
Google in Singapore pays better bonuses to mid-level business development and product professionals ($33,000 and $26,000 respectively) than it does to its senior software engineers ($12,000).

In an SGX filing, Frasers Property revealed that the discount given comprises a three percent early-bird discount offered to all purchasers at the time of the transaction and one percent discount extended to “immediate family members of staff or directors of the company and subsidiaries and associated and joint venture companies of the company”.

From Channel News Asia:

The Job Redesign Guide for Inclusive Employers was developed by SG Enable, in collaboration with the Ministry of Manpower to help companies better integrate those with special needs in the workplac . The 29-page guide provides information on what job redesign is and how to implement it.

For example, companies can reassign roles and responsibilities, make changes to the work processes or arrangements, modify the workspace or use assistive technology devices and software.

Employers can refer to the guide for information about grants available for them to hire and support people with disabilities. Existing initiatives include the Open Door Programme and Career Trial.
