
Daily Briefing: Home sales jump in November; Japan eyes Singapore-Malaysia bullet train

Singapore home sales rose to the highest in four months in November as new projects came to the market. Developers sold 759 units last month, up 39 percent compared with October’s revised 548 units sold in October, according to data released Tuesday by the Urban Redevelopment Authority. Japan, fresh from a $15 billion rail win in India over China, aims to sell its bullet trains to a high-speed line being planned between Singapore and the Malaysian capital, opening a new market for companies from Hitachi Ltd. to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. The government supports such a bid, Japanese Transport Minister Keiichi Ishii told reporters Tuesday in Tokyo.
