HDB to include singles in Sample Household Survey
More than 8,000 households and single occupiers will take part in the survey.
The newest edition of the Housing and Development Board’s (HDB) Sample Household Survey (SHS 23/24) will now include singles, both occupiers and non-HDB owners.
“Singles aged between 21 and 54 years, listed as occupiers in HDB flats and who do not own an HDB flat, will be invited to share their views on marriage, as well as their housing needs and aspirations, sense of belonging, and outlook on life,” HDB said.
The latest SHS survey will look at three main areas: HDB population and households, the social well-being of residents, and the physical living environment.
HDB will conduct the SHS from October 2023 to April 2024 with 8,600 participating households and single occupiers in HDB towns and estates across Singapore.
HDB will send out notification letters to HDB residents in batches. Those invited will take the survey either face-to-face or through online means.
Conducted every five years since 1968, SHS 2023/24 is the 12th in the series.
The results of SHS 23/24 will be ready in 2025.
