HDB to launch 18,000 new flats in 2016 to meet surging demand
15,000 flats were launched in last year.
Homebuyers looking to buy a new HDB home this new year will have plenty of options, as national development minister Lawrence Wong announced that an influx of built-to-order HDB supply would greet them in 2016.
According to a blog post by Wong, while the flat supply would be increased to cater to demand stemming from policy changes, the long-term plan remains to keep supply sustainable.
These will be spread across a good variety of locations, so that homebuyers can be assured of flats for every budget and need.
Meanwhile, Wong says national development would keep a close eye on the market this year, adjusting its building programme when necessary.
“We will focus on making our housing policies more inclusive and build even better homes for all Singaporeans,” the blog post said.
