HDB launches 4,627 flats
Three nonmature towns to take portions of the additional supply.
The 4,627-flat addition will be spread across three nonmature towns (Choa Chu Kang, Punggol, and Sengkang) and one mature town (Kallang/Whampoa), according to HDB, and is part of government efforts to release 25,000 BTO flats for 2012.
Selling prices for the mature town of Bendemeer Light & McNair Towers begin at $124,000 for a studio apartment and rise up to $467,000 for a 4-room flat.
Comparatively, selling prices are lower for flats in the three nonmature towns. A 4-room flat costs $275,000 at Compassvale Boardwalk, $223,000 in Keat Hong Pride and $260,000 in Punggol Edge & Waterway SunDew.
Cheaper 3-room and pricier 5-rooom flats are also available in three nonmature towns.
"To ensure first-timers continue to enjoy priority in flat allocation, at least 95% and 85% of the BTO flat supply (excluding Studio Apartments) in mature towns and non-mature towns respectively will be set aside for them. Eligible first-timer households can also enjoy various housing grants to help them own a new BTO flat," said HDB.
Housing grants, which vary depending on the BTO flat chosen, can snip off up to 25% of the selling price, based on HDB calculations.
