
HDB rental volume fell 13.7% in April
In contrast, the price of HDB rents rose 0.4%.
The number of HDB flats rented in April 2018 slipped by 13.7% to 1,883 units from 2,182 units in March, SRX Property revealed. According to flash data, rental volume was also down by 4.3% from last year.
Meanwhile, the price of HDB rents jumped 0.4% from last month. The rents for HDB 3 Rooms, HDB 4 Rooms, and HDB 5 Rooms increased by 0.4%, 0.3%, and 0.2% respectively, whilst HDB Executives decreased by 1.5%.
From last year, overall rents were down 1.8%. SRX Property clarified that it does not track the prices of smaller HDB units as the transaction volumes are extremely low.
The rents in mature and non-mature estates increased by 0.3% and 0.4% respectively. Compared to last year, rents in mature estates dipped 2% whilst those in non-mature estates dropped 1.5%.
SRX Property also revealed that overall median rents in Central Area were the highest at $2,700, followed by Bukit Merah and Bishan at $2,300 each. The lowest median rents were found in the towns of Bukit Panjang ($1,625), Ang Mo Kio ($1,750), and Bukit Batok ($1,750).
