Housing policies to be 'broadened' for second-time buyers

Quota in this category will be doubled.

According to Minister for National Development Khaw Boon Wan and Senior Minister of State Lee Yi Shyan, second timer quota for 2-room and 3-room flats in non-mature estates will be doubled.

The quota for flats in non-mature estates will increase from 15% to 30% this year.

Out of the 30%, 5% will be reserved for divorcees or widows/widowers who have underage children.

The changes will implemented from the May launch. Debarment period for divorcees applying for subsidised flats will be shortened from 5 to 3 years.

These were announced in the Budget 2013 debate.
