
Sizes of rented private apartments are getting smaller: analyst
It shrank by 3.4% in 1Q13.
According to SRX, in the rental market, the overall median sizes of rented private apartments have shrunk by a tad 3.4% from 2007’s 1,227sq ft, to end at 1,185sq ft over 1Q2013.
On a regional basis, in this year alone, tenants are renting the smallest apartments in the Rest of Central Region (RCR), where the median size stands at 1,087sq ft, followed by the Outside Central Region’s (OCR) 1,200sq ft.

In the Core Central Region (CCR), tenants are renting the biggest homes with a median size of 1,249sq ft.
On a year-on-year (Y-o-Y) basis, RCR’s rented home sizes have dropped by the sharpest 2.0%, followed by OCR’s 1.3%. Both the RCR and OCR’s median sizes mark the 7-year low since Year 2007.
In the contrary, median rented home sizes in the CCR have picked up by 2.7%, the first increase since 2007.
