URA used 6.5mn population parameter for Concept Plan 2011
CP11 will map out the land use and infrastructure development of Singapore in the next 40 to 50 years.
However, according to Mr Mah Bow Tan, Minister for National Development, the Concept Plan is not just a land use plan. It is fundamentally about people and how we can plan for a better life for all Singaporeans.
The Concept Plan 2011 will contain strategies to achieve a few key outcomes, namely, (i) to sustain a robust and vibrant economy; (ii) to achieve environmentally responsible development; (iii) to achieve resource optimisation; and (iv) to provide a good quality of living for all.
The Government will increase the housing stock as the population grows. "Our current towns will be redeveloped and expanded to provide affordable and good quality housing..." said Mr Mah Bow Tan.
The Government will also bring jobs closer to homes by having more equal job-to-worker distribution across the island and will continue to expand leisure options and greenery.
Finally, the Government will plan Singapore's land use and infrastructure development to respond to the changing profile of our population, so that Singapore remains an inclusive home.
