E-commerce adoption growing amongst the silver generation: survey

Seven in 10 seniors have integrated e-commerce into their daily routine.

Older Singaporeans are becoming more accepting of e-commerce and online entertainment, according to Shopee.

A survey from Shopee showed that 70% of the silver generation, or those aged 55 and above, have integrated e-commerce into their daily routine.

The silver generation is also buying a larger variety of items online compared to Gen Z and Gen X (84% vs 80%).

One in two seniors said apps and games in e-commerce platforms, like Shopee, have kept them engaged during their free time.

“For businesses, this presents more opportunity to access this growing user segment if they can tap on the right mix of content at the right time to reach these users,” Shopee said.

Baby boomers were not the only ones who felt the impact of e-commerce.

In Singapore, 87% of consumers said e-commerce shopping offers convenience and has positively impacted their lives.

Users are also making more orders and buying more products online, with more than 70% of respondents receiving up to five packages from e-commerce platforms monthly, reported Shopee.
