Local MSMEs primed to capture global e-commerce growth
B2C e-commerce exports to reach $3.9B by 2027.
Local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are well-positioned to benefit from the projected growth in B2C e-commerce exports, reaching $3.9b by 2027.
KeaBabies from Singapore exemplifies this potential with its success story in the export e-commerce market.
The home-grown brand started selling its first batch of baby goods on Amazon.com in 2017 and was able to expand to Europe within a year.
Today, their products are in North America, Europe, Singapore, and Australia.
Europe, particularly the United Kingdom is a popular destination for 36% of MSMEs seeking opportunities beyond the Singapore shores.
Some (44%) prefer the United States.
For Singapore sellers to scale globally, Amazon has rolled out different programmes, including Amazon Seller Ambassador, which connects all its sellers.
The platform also has an "Amazon Seller Education" team in Singapore, which provides a comprehensive library of resources for Singapore sellers.
"The readily available content covers the sellers' journey, from registration to launching and expanding their businesses globally," Amazon said.
In 2023, the team launched an interactive training program, offering online courses with real-time interaction.
